This is our second stay at Butterfly and the owners are doing a great job! Each year making improvements and making this a great destination. The bathrooms are immaculate, showers laundry, pool..just great. They are getting strict on visitors and quite times etc., which we appreciate..making this a great place for families not for people looking to party. We will stay here again!
If you are looking for more rustic camping then this is your place. The campground itself is nice, just not great. The sites have a asphalt pad which is nice and most sites are heavily wooded and private. We had a lakefront site though you couldn't tell because of all the tree's. If all of the smaller trees were cut in a 12ft path to the lake the view would be priceless. The bathrooms are cleaned by "host campers", our bathroom was always clean, its just very old and dingy. There are no paper towels, hand dryers or soap, so make sure you bring something to clean your hands after. The picnic tables were old and rotted in our section but they looked new in others. The park was quite at night and seemed to be 95% families. This park is about 40 min to gettysburg, 1 hr to Hershey, 50 min to Lancaster county (Amish country) and 1.5 hours to downtown Baltimore.
The Bathrooms were not immaculate, but were clean, the showers were clean, hot, and powerful. Campground itself is clean and well kept. The store is very well stocked and wasn't priced extremely high, although the younger girls working there were not the friendliest. The lake was nice with many items to rent, although there is not much of a beach at all to just go for the day, mostly sites on lake. We would go back if we could get a site on the lake, it was beautiful.
The park is very nice, clean, pools clean, bathrooms clean, the lake was very nice. Activities were very good, people all around were very friendly. Camp store was well stocked and reasonable. Our only complaint is the way you book, its a great system for the owners and I understand why they do it, tough for us with kids and programs all summer not really sure when they are happening until May or June. You have to book a full week, and once your there you have to pay for that week and site again for the next year if you want to keep it. We want to go back but cant commit until early June, by then all the good spots are gone.
Butterfly is a smaller, clean, well laid out campground. It was wooded pretty well for privacy. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. The pool was immaculate and very large. We stayed Mon-Fri and had the campground virtually to ourselves. It was very quiet which we loved. 15 min to six flags, 25 min to the beach. The General store was well stocked and all employee's were very friendly and helpful. They should get rid of the mini golf as its in bad shape. We will stay again.
Very clean and well maintained. Our site was beautiful, right on the river over a waterfall. All the sites were close but separated by tree's. Bathroom's and showers were very clean. Store was well stocked and the owners were very friendly. No pool, which was a downside, and not much for the kids to do other then ride bikes, but with so much in the area to do there were no complaints. We will return.
The campsite we had was lovely, right on the river. There was no beach and the river was very cold. The pool was small but very clean. The bathrooms were older and dated but clean. The staff was very helpful and the store was stocked pretty good. They don't enforce quite time and people all around us were partying until 2 am. Not allot to do in the area with kids, upper clemments park was fun, did kodiak whale watch, which was good. Campground sites were nice, large, clean and well maintained.
We have camped all over the entire East coast from St. John VI to the top of Nova Scotia, this is one of the best! It's more of a resort style camping then in the woods but almost everything was perfect. Bathrooms/showers were immaculate. pool's very clean, lake was amazing, you can pull your vehicle right down to the waters edge. Store was well stocked. Only downside was quite time not adhered to, but almost anywhere in Canada its the same, people stay up all night. Sites are right on top of each other but grassy and nice. Would go again in a heartbeat!
Park is very nice and is laid out nicely. We had a river front site but the river was quite a distance, beautiful none the less. Owners and employee's were very friendly. pool was very nice and clean. Store was well stocked and prices were fair. Bathrooms and showers were clean. The only negative was there was not much privacy to the site. Campers and rv's right next to each other, nothing in between. We would return with another site.
